Message from the CEO - November 2025 |
How fast has this year gone? It certainly feels that way here at AWCI Australia. As we head into the festive season, our team has been preparing strongly for the year ahead. But before we get there, I encourage you to visit the AWCI website and secure your spot at your State Christmas Party. This is your opportunity to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy valuable end-of-year conversations with your industry mates. |

2025 has been a year of real momentum for our members. Our industry magazine, On the Surface, will arrive just in time for summer. Enjoy the stories, updates, and insights from across all states and HQ. As we settle into our new headquarters in Docklands—and our training facilities in Port Melbourne—it’s important to acknowledge just how far we have come. While we inherited our previous premises from AWCI Victoria in Springvale, our move represents a clean break from the past and a clear step toward our national future. As I often say: “the future is now.” And how good is it to already have your 2026 event calendar lined up? Members can plan early, and partners and sponsors can allocate their investment strategically across states and nationally. We have listened closely to what members want, and we will continue to shape our work around your priorities. |

Our State Advisory Committees (SACs) remain essential in communicating state member needs to us. You will also have the opportunity to join your SAC in 2026. If you are interested, please email me your Expression of Interest, and I will ensure it is tabled at your next SAC meeting. I want to extend my sincere thanks to all members who participated on the Board, SACs, and various committees in 2025. Your commitment, leadership, and willingness to give back are invaluable—and deeply appreciated. Finally, on 3 December, we host our first Annual General Meeting—a bridging AGM between AWCI ANZ and AWCI Australia. I look forward to seeing you there, you can attend online in the events section of our website. Download the agenda and AWCI Australia Annual Report HERE. In the meantime, please keep up to date with our CEO Bulletins and our digital magazine. I always welcome member topics and suggestions. We are laying down the building blocks for a huge 2026. Get in touch if you have ideas and keep encouraging your mates and contractor networks who are not yet members to join us. We are on the right track—but we must continue working together. See you at the AGM or at one of the Christmas parties coming up. Warm regards, |

Why Your Next Holiday Could Be the Most Profitable Move You Make If your business only works when you’re there, it isn’t a business; it’s a job with overheads. Industry Leaders design companies that run without them. Technicians hold them together with duct tape and late nights. New Fixed Term Contract Information Statement Since 6 December 2023, there have been limitations on how fixed term contracts can be used. These include time limitations, renewal limitations and consecutive contract limitations. There are exceptions to when these limitations apply. Some of the exceptions (known as the additional exceptions) relate to specific sectors. Previously, all of the additional exceptions were temporary. |
