Key aspects of occupational licensing-1

Progress on Occupational Licensing Reform

In line with feedback from our members in various states, we have engaged directly with government’s in the following states

1. Queensland - to address long-standing issues around licensing and compliance. These discussions have led to the development of a White Paper submission to the Queensland Productivity Commission (QPC), aimed at highlighting the need for:

  • A modernised licensing regime
  • A clear path to mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Greater accountability and enforcement mechanisms for the industry

This white paper will be available on our website shortly, and we encourage all members to read it and stay informed about this critical work. Your input will continue to shape our advocacy moving forward.

2. Victoria - We have engaged with the Vic government and our CEO will shortly present a white paper to the government – we will have updates soon

3. Tasmania - we presented to the Building and occupational services department and now engaging with members and contractors to feed into a white paper to the Minister.

4. WA - We have engaged with the Premier who has responded favourably to our Occupational Licensing Framework. We will shortly be writing a brief to him proposing industry-led pre-licensing programs.

5. SA - We are currently reviewing how the SA Licensing regime fares on the AWCI Australia framework, we are always welcome to feedback.
