Dear Members,

I wish to make an announcement regarding the AWCI Australia CEO position to members and the industry, Rob Lucas our current CEO is departing the position of CEO, and we are pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Tengende as the next CEO to lead us forward as a National Association.

Rob has chosen to retire, due to a significant change in his personal circumstances, and will leave AWCI Australia with our best wishes and with some significant achievements under his belt.

His leadership drive and determination have helped us to finally achieve our National Status and to put in place significant changes that ensure that he leaves AWCI in a far better, more stable environment than when he came on board. He came to our role with considerable experience as a CEO and has assisted us push forward to an exciting future.

He has implemented and is implementing several initiatives that will help to put us on our pathway to providing better and increased training for the industry and new and improved services for our members. At the same time, he has increased and improved our communications with members, and supporters and has professionally represented the industry to the government.

I’d like to personally, as well as on behalf of our Board and members, thank Rob for his time with us and what he has helped us to achieve, and wish him all the best for his retirement and future.

Simon had an extensive background working for Industry and Trade organisations, including NECA, National Electrical Contractors Association, MEA Master Electricians Association, and the Institute of Architects. In previous roles, he has had a strong focus on Membership, Advocacy, and Stakeholder engagement. Simon commenced with AWCI Australia on the 16th of September 2024.

While Simon will only have a week for handover with Rob. Rob has generously offered to be available to continue to assist and mentor Simon should it be required.

Perry Richardson
President
