AWCI members, the following information is important for all concerned in the wall and ceiling industry.

As of May 1 2023 new building projects approved are to be built to the NCC 2022, the NCC 2022 refers to the standard AS 5216:2021 Design of post-installed and cast-in fastenings in concrete.

The revised standard refers to changes of post installed anchors, the standard introduces a number of design methods including:

Design of redundant non-structural system (Appendix E of the standard)
Design for fasteners under seismic actions (Appendix F of the standard)

Building projects approved after May 1 2023, depending on the size of the project, the NCC 2022 reference to AS 5216:2021 may not effect the wall and ceiling industry in the interim but for companies who do work in the retrofit or extensions sector it could effect this work immediately.
