Processing Crystalline Silica containing Substances (CSS) generates a respirable dust fraction that is a known health hazard.

We’ve made progress in our understanding of this hazard and how to control it over the last few years. Progress has been especially rapid in the Elimination, Substitution and Engineering Control layers of the Hierarchy of Controls. In addition, more in-situ and laboratory test data are now available to us, helping us make better decisions when implementing controls as well as helping us to conduct CSS Processing Risk Assessments in line with Regulator Codes of Practice.

This educational session outlines existing successful comprehensive control strategies that not only help work health and safety management decision making but also demonstrate productivity and sustainability improvements.
