A Legacy of Excellence

The Apprentice Challenge has grown to become a highlight of the AWCI calendar, thanks to the tireless efforts of Phil Cooymans, AWCI Australia Director and Industry Life Member. For over a decade, Phil has been instrumental in developing and elevating the program, cementing its status as a benchmark of excellence in the industry. His dedication ensures that the challenge continues to thrive, evolving to meet the needs of both apprentices and the broader industry.

The Road to Nationals

Starting in 2025, the program will include state-based apprentice quests as the first step in the journey. Each state will host its own competition, culminating in the selection of two top apprentices to represent their state at the national level. This structure not only enhances engagement but also ensures a diverse and competitive field at the national stage.

Ambassadors of the Future

The AWCI Apprentice Challenge also includes an exciting ambassadorial component. Peter Troake, a previous winner of the challenge, will serve as the 2025 Apprentice Challenge Ambassador. Over the course of a year, Peter will participate in a tailored program of learning, mentorship, and industry networking, further highlighting the transformative impact of the challenge.

A Celebration of Skills and Dedication

The Apprentice Challenge is more than just a competition; it is a celebration of the craftsmanship, dedication, and potential of the wall and ceiling industry’s future leaders. By fostering excellence and providing invaluable opportunities for learning and networking, the program reinforces AWCI Australia’s commitment to supporting the growth and success of its members and the broader industry.
